Attire for Airline Travel

airport 300x225It’s sad that so many people spend all their time before a trip focusing on what goes into their suitcase, without paying attention also to the things they wear in the airport and on the airplane. If all air passengers were to focus more on what they wear on the plane, we would go through security faster, be more comfortable while travelling, and less frantic if something goes wrong.

What you wear to the airport has a huge impact on how your trip through security goes. Nowadays, security personnel are very careful about scanning and allowing metal into the airport. You may think then that you are fine as long as you dont have a lot of change in your pocket, but youd be wrong. Unless you want to spend five minutes taking off jewelry and accessories, I can’t recommend enough wearing minimal to no jewelry and, if a belt, then one with no metal in it. You and the passengers behind you will go through security much faster as a result.

Besides the endless waiting, one of the things that makes air travelers irritable is all the discomfort. You cant control that airlines are making seats smaller, less padded, and fitting them closer together. What you can control when it comes to comfort is what you are wearing. Unless you have to wear business or formal attire on the plane, don’t. I recommend comfortable, climate friendly clothing which will be soft on your skin and keep you just a bit warm as the plane ascends and naturally cools down.

The last bit of advice I have for you has to do with clothing, but not what you’re wearing on the plane. It’s all too common, sad to say, for checked bags to be temporarily lost by airlines. If you pack in your carry-on bag an extra change of clothes for just such an occasion, you can be less stressed if you find yourself waiting at baggage claim and not seeing your bags.

Clothing for airline travel isn’t rocket science, but a little bit of thought will go a long way toward your comfort, peace of mind, and sanity while flying.

  1. i remembered, last time i had to wait 8 hours because of my flight delay. i was wearing a tight jeans and t-shirt. which make me feel so uncomfortable. All i can suggest, just wear comfortable wears which make you feel comfortable, because you do not know how much longer you need to wait in the airport.
